Steps to Follow

By default, no alarms are added to events exported to iCal. See Figure 1.

  1. Make sure the 'Export to iCal...' dialog is visible.
  2. Select the 'Alarm' tab.

  3. Change the settings to the desired state.

    See Alarm Settings section for details on the various settings. See figures 2 and 3 for a couple of examples.

    NOTE: If you have previously done an export and want to make sure your recurrence settings take effect on those existing entries, select the 'Update all existing entries' radio button in the 'Advanced' tab.
  4. Click the 'Export' button.

Alarm Settings

Setting Definition
Enable alarms for iCal entries. When checked, it enables adding alarms to entries being exported.
Alarm Type The type of alarms to add to the events. There are three possible values.
  1. Message - Displays a dialog with a message.
  2. Message with Sound - Displays a dialog with a message. Also, plays the selected sound.
  3. E-Mail - Alarm sends you an e-mail. E-mail address obtained from your entry in the address book.
Date(s) Specifies the date (or dates) on which to trigger the alarm. Some of the date options are actually ranges. There are a number of possible values.
  1. On the Day - Triggers the alarm on the day of the event.
  2. Day Before - Triggers the alarm the day before the event.
  3. Two Days Before - Triggers the alarm two days before the event.
  4. Three Days Before - Triggers the alarm three days before the event.
  5. One Week Before - Triggers the alarm one week before the event.
  6. Two Weeks Before - Triggers the alarm two weeks before the event.
  7. Everyday - 3 Days Before - Triggers the alarm everyday starting three days before the event. Also, triggers the alarm on the day of the event.
  8. Everyday - Week Before - Triggers the alarm everyday starting one week before the event. Also, triggers the alarm on the day of the event.
  9. Everyday - 2 Weeks Before - Triggers the alarm everyday starting two weeks before the event. Also, triggers the alarm on the day of the event.
Time The time-of-day that an alarm is scheduled to trigger.
Sound The sound to play when an alarm triggers. The sound is played when it is selected. This list is only activated when the 'Message with Sound' item of the 'Alarm Type:' list is selected.

If you cancel, your export settings are not saved.
