B.R. Icon Managing Date Types

Date Types are used to classify all the available dates from all cards in your Address Book. As shown in Figure 1, there are three defaults:
  1. Birthday
  2. Anniversary
  3. Other Date
The Address Book supports custom date labels so there are no hard and fast rules to classifying dates. The Other Date Date Type is initially assigned to all date labels which are not birthdays or anniversaries.

Opening the 'Manage Date Types...' Dialog.
  • Within the 'File' select the 'Manage Date Types...' menu item, or
  • click the 'Manage Date Types...' toolbar item.
Creating a New Date Type.
  1. Open the 'Manage Date Types...' dialog.
  2. Click the New button to create an Unnamed date type with a blue color dot.
  3. Double-click the Unnamed date type label to begin editing.
  4. Once finished editing, hit Return.
  5. <Control>-Left Mouse Click (or Right Mouse Click) over the date type row to change the date type color.
Renaming an Existing Date Type.
  1. Open the 'Manage Date Types...' dialog.
  2. Double-click the date type label to begin editing.
  3. Once finished editing, hit Return.
Changing the Date Type Color.
  1. Open the 'Manage Date Types...' dialog.
  2. <Control>-Left Mouse Click (or Right Mouse Click) over the date type row to change the date type color.
Changing the Substitution Rule (%s)
  1. Open the 'Manage Date Types...' dialog.
  2. Double-click the Substitution Rule of any date type or Address Book label to begin editing. The help drawer will automatically open.
  3. Once finished editing, hit Return.
